The term cardiovascular disease generally refers to the conditions affecting the heart and blood vessels of the Cardiovascular System. It is associated with the development of fatty deposits inside the arteries (atherosclerosis) and causes blood clots in the heart.

It also causes the damage of arteries in some organs like kidneys, brain, heart, and eyes. Sometimes for different reasons, the oxygen-rich blood flowing the heart muscle can be blocked or reduced. Cardiovascular Disease is the leading cause of death in the USA and UK in the present situation.

Reason For Cardiovascular Disease

The reason for cardiovascular disease is not clearly known, but various risk factors may cause cardiovascular disease (CVD). More risk factors give a greater chance to develop cardiovascular disease. Some main risk factors causing cardiovascular disease are given below:

  • High Blood Pressure: The most important and discussed reason for cardiovascular disease is high blood pressure (hypertension). Increasing blood flow pressure causes damage to the blood vessels in the heart and gradually creates heart disease.
  • Smoking: The another most important risk factor for high blood pressure is smoking and tobacco. Substances in tobacco that are harmful can damage and narrow the blood vessels. High cholesterol: fatty substances present in the blood is known as cholesterol. High cholesterol level in blood narrows the blood vessels and increases the risk of clotting blood.
  • Diabetes: A lifelong condition in the body is diabetes. It causes the blood sugar level to become too high, which can damage blood vessels and narrow the vessels. People with diabetes type 2 are overweight or obese and are a risk factor for cardiovascular disease.
  • Inactivity: If someone is physically inactive and doesn’t exercise regularly, may have high blood pressure, high cholesterol levels, and overweight or obesity. All those are referred to as the risk factors for various cardiovascular diseases. Exercise will help keep our heart healthy, and a combination with a heart-healthy diet helps maintain a very healthy weight.

Overweight or Obese

Being overweight or Obese can give rise to diabetes and high blood pressure, both of which are risk factors of cardiovascular disease. When the body mass index (BMI) is more than 25, it is at high risk of cardiovascular disease.

Family History of Cardiovascular Disease

If anybody has a family history of cardiovascular disease is at a higher risk of cardiovascular disease. When a father or brother is diagnosed with cardiovascular disease before 55 and mother or sister is diagnosed before 65 may be a reason to develop cardiovascular disease in one’s body. One should go to the doctor if he has a family history of CVD, and the doctor will tell to check blood pressure and cholesterol level.

Ethnic Background

People of south Asian and African or Caribbebackgroundsund in the UK have more risk of cardiovascular disease because people from this background have other risk factors of cardiovascular sides, such as diabetes, type 2, and high blood pressure.

Some Other Risk Factors

There are some other risk factors of cardiovascular disease which may lead to CVD. Those are given below:

  • Age: The development of risk factors of cardiovascular disease increases with the increase of age. People the age of 5o have a higher risk of CVD.
  • Gender: There is a chance to affect cardiovascular disease in a man than in a woman.
  • Diet: an unhealthy diet is the main reason for high cholesterol and high blood pressure, a risk factor for cardiovascular disease.
  • Alcohol: Consumption of excessive alcohol can increase cholesterol and high blood pressure levels and cause weight gain.

Cardiovascular Disease or heart disease is a prevalent disease for most men and women in every country. Try to be safer from this killer disease.
